# Stop Agent

> Stop an agent and shut down its pod. Workspace is preserved.

## Authentication

Requires JWT token or Platform API key via `Authorization: Bearer <token>` header.

<Note>
  Stopping an agent shuts down its pod completely to save resources. The agent's workspace and configuration are preserved. Use [pause](/api/agents/pause) instead if you need filesystem access while the agent is idle.

## Status Codes

| Code  | Description                                      |
| ----- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| `200` | Agent stopped successfully                       |
| `400` | Agent is already stopped                         |
| `401` | Unauthorized - invalid or missing authentication |
| `404` | Agent not found                                  |
